Clutter Free Kids Holiday Gift Guide 2020
You asked and we delivered! Our 2020 Kids Holiday Gift Guide is here. If you are expecting a list of all the latest toy trends and crazes, you won’t find that in this round up! Instead, we have sourced our favorite, go-to gift ideas that will keep your kids entertained and your home stress-free and clutter-free during this holiday season.
I’m not going to lie, my go-to clutter free gift ideas are always experience based, and this being 2020…. well, that’s not necessarily an option! So know that we worked extra hard to make this list this year! Ultimately, what a clutter-free gift comes down to is that it doesn’t add to chaos of toys. When shopping this season, ask yourself: “Will the maintenance, management, cleaning, or tidying of this item on behalf of my child be worth my time and energy?” If yes, then go for it. I promise, I’m not a Grinch! But intentional shopping, especially during a season where kids are often bombarded with new items, will go a long way!
So without further delay, here it is!
Consumable Items
Consumable items don’t necessarily mean something to eat - although a baking kit or special treat is always a favorite item in our household! Consumable by definition just means that the item is intended to be used up relatively quickly.
Bath Fun!
Kids are never too old for a good bubble bath! We love gifting the kids with some of their favorite bath items every year. Those include: bath bombs, bubble bath, and bathtub finger-paint.
Kitchen Fun!
My kids want to help out in the kitchen all the time! We love giving them independence to try things on their own and baking kits and mixes are a great way for them to feel accomplished in the kitchen and then enjoy the rewards of their work!
Some ideas: Rainbow cake kit, Themed Cupcake Kits, or even a subscription to a monthly themed baking box like FoodStirs (Kendall’s grandparents gifted her with this for her birthday and we love getting them in the mail!).
Art Fun!
If my kids could have only one activity to occupy themselves with, it would be arts and crafts. Seriously, they could stay entertained for days on end with a bag of pom poms, popsicle sticks, and a glue gun 😂 They never want to keep their creations for long, they are all about the creative process, so art projects are the perfect clutter free gift for them. Some of our favorite projects are these sticker art collage books (we have several versions and they keep the kids busy for hours!), Perler beads, and scratch art. This soap making kit and candle making kit could be fun for older kids!
For the Animal Lover
No exaggeration, this Butterfly Garden was probably the highlight of our year! We got to watch our caterpillars go through their entire life cycle before releasing them into the wild. I would only recommend getting this if you live in a warmer climate so that the butterflies can be released after hatching! We also had fun with Sea Dragons and Ant Farms this year too! Not into bringing nature inside your house? What about a bird feeder or a symbolic animal adoption?
For the Technology Lover
Earlier this year we surprised both the kids with their own Amazon Echo Dot Speakers for their rooms and talk about the gift that keeps on giving! These speakers are a life saver and keep the kids entertained with music, audiobooks, and jokes all day! I love that I can login to see what songs and books they are listening to also.
Shh… don’t tell my kiddos, but we also got them each their own Fitbit for kids for Christmas this year. With the colder, darker days combined with virtual learning, they just aren’t getting as active as they would at school!
Cameras are always a fun gift for kids who aren’t old enough for their own phone yet. And you can’t go wrong with a Tablet these days! A technology upgrade is an easy way to prevent clutter while also satisfying those hard to please tweens and teens!
Other ideas
Our kids devour books on repeat, Lucas especially loves series like Bad Guys and Diary of a Pug. Kendall is a big fan of Judy Moody and Amelia Bedelia. Since we get all out books from the library throughout the year, it’s fun for the kids to receive their own copies of books from time to time!
Games, puzzles, movies, and clothes are great clutter free gift idea too! And guys, there is nothing wrong with going all practical too. Santa is notorious for putting new toothbrushes and socks in the kids’ stockings every year! 🙈
